One of my favorite holidays is Easter Sunday, but the one thing I dislike about it is the awful unhealthy Easter baskets parents give to their children. This year I decided to share some of my tips to create a healthy and fun Easter basket that your kids will love.

My Easter basket contains a jump rope, wooden puzzle, Fit Bit activity tracker, and homemade goodies. I love adding in things that are not always food items which gives them something active do, like a jump rope, chalk, bubbles, soccer ball, or anything that gets them engaged and moving.

I also love puzzles, coloring books, or anything that is stimulating for the mind. These items help your child or loved ones to be away from screen time and really be present which is so important today.

Adding in homemade snacks like these energy bliss balls are a great way to sneak in nutrition without compromising taste. They are so easy to make and you can customize them to what your child or loved one really enjoys. I made peanut butter oat balls which are packed with super foods and is whole food plant based.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup whole rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup pecans
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp maca
  • 1-2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 5 pitted dates

Directions:

  • Add all items to the food processor and blend well.
  • Roll into small balls and place into a container or bag.
  • Place in your Easter baskets..

Enjoy!

They truly are the easiest things to make and are fantastic snacks you won’t feel bad about giving to your loved ones or even eating yourself.
